Quiz Night Fundraiser!

Recently, a group of student from the University of Auckland ran a Quiz Night to fundraise for the construction of a classroom block at Dzaleka Refugee Camp. The night was a great success, with 8 teams battling it out to win some awesome prizes kindly sponsored by local businesses.

Thanks to everyone that attended, almost $600 was raised to go towards the refugee camp project. The refugee camp at Dzaleka, Malawi, is hugely under-resourced. Despite the population being as many as 32,000 people (most of whom are women and children), there are very few education opportunities for the children, with only one official school on site.

With funds raised through the Quiz Night and donations made to EGG, we are looking to partner with Build A School to construct a classroom at the camp. This will enable more children to go to school, and increase their opportunity for a promising future. It will give the children something to focus on and do every day, creating a sense of routine for them. This is significant as many of the children have fled disaster, war and trauma to settle at the camp.

Please, watch this space as we explore the ways we can help educate the children of Dzaleka Refugee Camp!
